Market Clarity NBN Bandwidth and Price Scenario Model

Market Clarity’s Bandwidth and Price Scenario Model calculates bandwidth and costs, and target retail prices on a POI-by-POI basis, for the full range of NBN Co Internet plans:
- Asymmetric bandwidth and costs — with selectable contention ratio, and mix of service speeds
- Symmetric bandwidth and costs — with selectable contention ratio by traffic class, and mix of service speeds (automating the selection of least cost corresponding Asymmetric service)
- CVC bandwidth and costs — by traffic class based on mix of service speeds and contention ratios
- NNI bandwidth and costs — based on most cost effective type(s) of NNI link to purchase
- Backhaul bandwidth and costs — based on a user selectable choice of Market Clarity industry price benchmarks for Dark Fibre and Wholesale Ethernet services, a standard backhaul price for all POIs or overriding the backhaul price for any given POI with a set price.
- Fully loaded NBN cost per SIO type based on bandwidth usage — the price model calculates the fully loaded NBN cost for each SIO type, adding each cost element (SIO, CVC and NNI) based on the relative amount of bandwidth used by each SIO type.
- Fully loaded NBN + Backhaul cost per SIO type based on bandwidth usage — the price model separately calculates the fully loaded NBN + Backhaul cost for each SIO type, adding each cost element (SIO, CVC, NNI and Backhaul) based on the relative amount of bandwidth used by each SIO type.
- Fully loaded NBN cost per SIO type based on the distribution of SIO plans — the price model calculates the fully loaded NBN cost for each SIO type, adding each cost element (SIO, CVC and NNI) based on the percentage of each SIO plan type.
- Fully loaded NBN + Backhaul cost per SIO type based on the distribution of SIO plans — the price model separately calculates the fully loaded NBN + Backhaul cost for each SIO type, adding each cost element (SIO, CVC, NNI and Backhaul) based on the percentage of each SIO plan type.
- Retail Price per SIO type based on bandwidth usage — a user selectable retail margin is added to the fully loaded NBN + Backhaul costs, based on the relative amount of bandwidth used by each SIO type.
- Retail Price per SIO type based on the distribution of SIO plans — a user selectable retail margin is added to the fully loaded NBN + Backhaul costs, based on the percentage of each SIO plan type.
User inputs allow for any mix of:
- Asymmetric services
- Symmetric bandwidth
- NBN penetration (with selectable options to set NBN penetration by the total premises in each POI area, a percentage penetration across all selected POIs, a percentage penetration for an individual POI or a specific number of premises connected at an individual POI)
- Target market penetration (set for all POIs, or on an individual POI basis)
- Selecting POIs by class (Metro, Outer Metro, Regional), by State or individually.
- Setting a retail margin (which is added to fully loaded NBN, and NBN + Backhaul costs).
Market Clarity’s NBN Price and Bandwidth Scenario Model was designed to simplify the job of setting retail service prices!
The model also associates each NBN Co POI with a Telstra ESA and Telstra Wholesale ADSL pricing zone.
Summary data is available for:
- Each POI — SIOs, bandwidth, costs based on user selections.
- All Selected POIs — SIOs, bandwidth, costs based on user selections.
- Bandwidth, SIO and Cost Summaries by Geography (POI Type) within each State.
- Summaries by Geography (POI Type) within each State of the fully loaded NBN (and NBN + Backhaul) cost per SIO type based on bandwidth usage.
- Summaries by Geography (POI Type) within each State of the fully loaded NBN (and NBN + Backhaul) cost per SIO type based on the distribution of SIO plans.
- Summaries by Geography (POI Type) within each State of the Retail Price per SIO type based on bandwidth usage.
- Summaries by Geography (POI Type) within each State of the Retail Price per SIO type based on the distribution of SIO plans.
The combination of selectable user inputs coupled with detailed summary data enables extensive what-if forecasting of cost and bandwidth implications for an unlimited number of scenarios.
